Valves Used for Petrochemical Industry in China Overview

Valves are indispensable control equipment for petrochemical industry. Valves have various categories. With different kinds of whole set process constant improving, categories of valves are also increasing. 

 

It is known that valves used for petrochemical industry can be classified into several categories based on different usages:

1. Used for cutting off or connecting medium in pipe: gate valve, globe valve, plug valve, ball valve and butterfly valve;

2. Used for regulating pressure or flow of media in pipe: control valve, reducing valve, throttle valve, butterfly valve, balance valve;

3. Used for preventing media from back flowing or ensuring media to flow in single direction: check valve;

4. Used for overheating and overpressure protection, discharging superfluous media and preventing temperature or pressure from exceeding certain numerical value to ensure the safety of equipments or pipes: safety valve, magnetic valve;

5. Used for changing flow direction or shunting: distribution valve, three-way or four-way plug valve, three-way or four-way ball valve;

6. Used for sampling analysis: sampling valve;

7. Other special usages: drain valve, blow-down valve, vent valve, residual cake valve.

 

Experts predict that during the 12th Five-Year-Plan, the priority of valves applied in petrochemical industry is that develop new valves products to match large petrochemical projects or oil gas transmission pipes. For example, the demands for high temperature valves for outlet pipelines of ethylene cracking furnace whose capacity is over 800 thousand tons, large dimension high pressure ball valve, large dimension oil transmission pipe ball valve, low temperature valves for LNG will highly grow. 

 

However, they introduces that in petrochemical industry, high pressure bellows valve for high pressure polyethylene, coke flat valve for ethylene cracking furnace, high pressure temperature or ultralow temperature valve for 2500 pounds of ethylene still need import. Valves made of special materials, including telescopic valve, jacked valve or control valve in control system completely depend on import.
